Understanding yourself takes patience and compassion. You can create a life for yourself that is vibrant, aligned with your values, and filled with deep connections to others. There are so many ways to learn how to handle what life throws at you.
Feeling confused, enraged, or anxious in our increasingly frenzied world?
When we become overwhelmed by our feelings - anger, fear, sadness - we may feel cut off, like something is missing, or as if we are just going through the motions and feeling disconnected or “numbed out”. Recovery from chronic stress/complex trauma means understanding past experiences while developing the skills to live in the present. Mindfulness-based experiential practices help us nurture self-acceptance, and help us develop a sense of safety and calm so we can explore unhealthy patterns and reactions from long ago that keep showing up in our relationships today.
Mind Body Connection
Having trouble sleeping? Frustrated by chronic pain? Stress shows up in our bodily sensations and attitudes about ourselves and the world around us. If untreated, these symptoms may become routine, causing us to get stuck in habits or scripts we learned a very long time ago as we adapted to our environments. I can show you how to manage emotional and physical symptoms using your body's own internal resources.
Purpose and Meaning
Life's BIG questions: What is my purpose? Is this the life I want? Am I the best version of myself? I can collaborate with you to achieve your goal of living a healthier life, filled with deep connections to others, explore paths to fulfillment, and assist you in understanding yourself and your place in an increasingly complex world. Take the leap and reach out today!

Feel like everywhere you look things are falling apart in America? You're not alone. Our society is experiencing the psychological impact of a collective trauma as we struggle to face increases in hunger and food insecurity, homelessness, a broken health care system, and the staggering rise in income inequality. The American Psychological Association widely agrees that America's mental health crisis has reached unprecedented levels with rising rates of anxiety, depression, with 1-in-2 American adults reporting loneliness and isolation. I earned Master's degrees in Mental Health Counseling and American Culture Studies and taught college courses about our nation's past and present. Learn how to manage your sadness or anger about what is happening in the U.S. and how to find hope again.
Helping people find purpose and meaning in their lives is the foundation of my approach to psychotherapy. My specialized training is spread across broad areas of emotional well-being: creativity and joy; existential dread, and helping people who’ve experienced developmental trauma. If you grew up in a home where there was abuse, addiction, and violence, I am here to help you discover your strengths and resilience using effective, evidence-based techniques.
I offer in-person sessions at my office in Sylvania, Ohio and via teletherapy every day except Thursdays. I am accepting new clients for individual treatment and group therapy. I have availability in the afternoons and early evenings for in person appointments and in the mornings for teletherapy. I offer free 15-minute phone consultations to see if we might be a good fit to work together.
